The Making Of

" Better pictures than lectures” is one of the tools in editing this weblog. The camera is where it all starts. A digital mirror reflex camera is, in combination with good software, more than half of the job. Then it comes to choosing the right viewpoint and that can cause some backache. See the picture above. They are so small over here…

With a proper zoomlens it can be done. And a macro setting for the tiny parts.

That macrolens proved its value though with those miniscule doggies over here. ;-)
How to capture such a tiny dog? Just say to the owner: "Kawaii desu nè.." that is Japanese for: "oh, how cute..." instant friendship follows. On asking for permission to take a picture: “oh well of course sir!”

Shibuya
My most precious partner is my bicycle. (Not to mention Frank of course). I still praise the day decided to bring it to Tokyo. Cycling is not a really swell in Tokyo as there are no bicycle lanes. Car traffic leaves little room and on the sidewalk you find pedestrians not expecting your presence. It requires advanced riding skills. The great advantage is that on a bike you really experience the city. From the metro you cannot see a thing, walking is too far. We don’t have a car and a car cannot stop anywhere. Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle!

And for the months to come I have the perfect job. I am working on a book on living in Tokyo and for that I have to cruise the whole city and take pictures. And for that, the bicycle is perfect.
